Award-winning documentary about a young woman from rural Oregon who overcomes poverty and tragedy while chasing her dream of becoming a NASA astrophysicist. After losing her husband and young son, Charity Woodrum finds solace in far-off galaxies with help from childhood friends and perfect strangers. Her deeply personal story highlights resilience, grief, mentorship, and the power of human connection. Following the screening there will be an in-person Q&A with NASA Astrophysicist Dr. Charity Woodrum; Dr. Scott Fisher, Director of Pine Mountain Observatory and Charity's UO mentor; and the film's director and producer Sandy Cummings. Proceeds of this event will support the Woody's Stars Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation, an education enrichment fund created in memory of Charity Woodrum's son, Woody. Woody's Stars provides financial assistance and mentorship to underrepresented college students studying science, technology, engineering, and math. If you're able, please consider an additional donation to Woody's Stars. Suggested admission donation is $12 for adults, $5 for students. There's also a "pay what you can" option to remove cost as a potential barrier to attend. Tickets can only be purchased through this link.
